HillSprings is a diverse community that celebrates differences with a conviction that successful education develops basic principles such as respect and empathy. Through our programs and curriculum, we foster tolerance for differences in gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic group, religion and sexual orientation. We do not discriminate on the basis of these differences; in fact, we affirm that varying perspectives enrich the life of our educational community and the world around us.
Students applying to The HillSprings Learning Center must be diagnosed with a specific learning disability or attention deficit disorder. An evaluation may be completed by licensed psychologists with the school system or one in private practice. Diagnosis as LD, ADD or ADHD is based on average or above average intelligence with a discrepancy between aptitude and achievement in the classroom, but without primary emotional or behavioral difficulties. Students enrolled in The HillSprings Learning Center may demonstrate difficulty in reading, spelling, mathematics, handwriting, organization of written language, distractibility, sustained attention, homework completion, or any combination of these areas.
